Transforming Lives Through Equine Assisted Services
-
What is the difference between a mentor and a volunteer?A volunteer covers a wide range of needs from assisting during lessons, prepping for or working during events, maintenance and clean up around the ranch, etc. As a mentor, you are committing to an hour at the same day/time each week in order to provide consistency for the participant that you are mentoring.
-
Do we have to have a referral for services? While a referral is not required for services, in certain circumstances, especially with specific diagnosis, we may require some information from your physician. We will provide the paperwork for the physician to answer questions that are necessary for us to safely provide services.
-
Do you offer trail rides or do birthday parties? We are a therapeutic facility and that is the primary focus of our lessons and events. While we do have several community events throughout the year, our insurance limits the number of events we can offer. Therefore, we do not offer private parties or trail rides.
-
Does insurance cover the fees?Unfortunately, insurance does not cover the cost of service. However, we have purposely kept our costs at a price point that is similar to the average copay. That way, our participants are out of pocket the same amount, even though insurance does not reimburse us for services provided.
-
How old do I have to be to volunteer?Volunteers must be at least 16 years old in order to work with people or horses. We may have opportunities to assist with events at a slightly younger age on occasion.

We are a PATH Member Center and a CHA Member Center dedicated to providing equine assisted activities for individuals with special needs, social/emotional concerns, dealing with anxiety/depression and much more.

Bright Star Ranch offers many services and programs to our clients with specific design plans to improve quality of life and life-changing therapy to meet the specific needs of the rider.

We are flexible with your schedule and no horse experience is necessary, although we require a volunteer training prior to any volunteer working with clients and horses.

Check our calendar to see information on upcoming classes and events. We have a variety of different events throughout the year including a fall festival and holiday festivities.
